Procedure for regular and up-to-date determination of energy consumption in areas not covered by official statistics

The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy has commissioned the Institute for Energy Environment Forecast Analysis (EEFA) with developing a method for the regular and up-to-date determination of energy consumption in the sectors of private households, commerce, trade and services. The aim is to close statistical gaps in areas not covered by official statistics in a manner that is as complete, true and low-cost as possible. The study has developed a proposal for this.

Study on the development of a methodology to determine oil data for the Länder

The Federal Government and the Länder need data on the production and use of oil products for the compilation of energy footprints. The federal energy footprint is covered by, for example, the Oil Data Act, but this legislation does not provide any Länder-based data on sales of fuel and fuel oil.

This research project presents a methodology enabling the oil data for the Länder to be derived from the federal energy footprint. The method is based on publicly available statistics. The oil data for the Länder for the 2010-2014 period have already fully determined in the course of the research work.

Planned amendment to the Oil Data Act

On 3 August 2016, the Federal Cabinet adopted draft legislation on the stockholding of oil, on the collection of data on mineral oil, and on the transition to high-calorific gas.
